Adams Rite 8700 Life Safety Rim Exit Device, Wide Stile Pushpad, For Hollow Metal and Wood Applications

The 8700 Series Rim Exit Device is designed for hollow metal and wood applications that require a life-safety exit device with Starwheel interlocking solution.
Designed for use in applications with single doors or pairs of doors with a mullion.

Features
Materials: Push bar made of extruded aluminum, clad or anodized in a variety of finishes.

Handing: Device is non-handed.

Push bar Length
Standard sizes: dimensioned for 30" [762.0 mm], 36" [914.4mm], 42" [1,066.8 mm], and 48" [1,219.2 mm] openings. Standard width bars can be field cut to the next smallest opening width.

Door Thickness: Suits 1-3/4" [44.5 mm] standard, up to 2-1/4" [57.2 mm].

Stile Width: Minimum 3-3/4" [95.3 mm]. Door construction may require additional stile width to meet fire ratings and provide adequate strength.

Projection: 2-5/8" [66.7 mm] when fully projected, 1-5/8" [41.3 mm] when dogged.

Dogging: Standard dogging with hex key.

Fasteners: Standard self-tapping screws and machine screws.

Strike: Standard hardened steel strike (included).

Electrified Options
Electric Latch Retraction (solenoid)
The EL option for rim exit devices use a solenoid mounted under the pushbar for instantaneous unlocking and locking of the exit device from a remote location or access control device. Because electrical operation of device is fail-secure, this option can be used on fire-rated as well as life-safety applications. In the event of a power failure, device automatically relocks.

EL Option
Rim devices with the EL option are available in 12 or 24 VDC, and can be powered with a simple transformer and rectifier or other DC power supply.
• EL-12 VDC – 1.5 Amps inrush/hold
• EL-24 VDC – 0.6 Amps inrush/hold

Alarm
Suitable for all Adams Rite exit devices 36" wide or greater. This battery-operated alarm option emits a loud 95 decibel alarm
to notify management of unauthorized exit. Alarm is controlled by a key in standard 1" [25.4 mm] length, 1-5/32" [29.4 mm] diameter mortise cylinder with MS® cam such as the 4036 Mortise Cylinder. The cylinder is used to arm, disarm, delay, or reset the alarm. Will not alter the life-safety characteristics of the exit device in any way. Red letters printed on the bar give a “hands off” warning to deter accidental activation. Four AA alkaline batteries power twin horns for two minutes (or until disarmed) when pushbar is depressed. Beeps to signal need for new batteries.

Monitor
Mounted under the exit device pushbar on the hinge end, switches may be used to activate signal light, horn, monitor, or other devices. Switches can be wired for normally open or normally closed. Can be retrofit in field to existing exit devices. Suitable for all Adams Rite exit devices.
